Vision Cruise Visits Queen Elizabeth

A number of lucky Vision Cruise staff members were invited to visit a Queen when she arrived in Liverpool on the 11th July, and not just any Queen, Cunard’s magnificent Queen Elizabeth. Read all about it below..

As we arrived at the Liverpool Cruise terminal and saw Queen Elizabeth for the very first time, you can’t help but be taken in by the elegance and beauty of the exterior of Cunard’s newest ship. After entering service in 2010 and with a planned refit taking place in November 2018, the team were very excited to see just what Queen Elizabeth was all about.

Met by our hosts from Cunard we excitedly embarked onboard this magnificent vessel, and from the very first moment to the last, she did not disappoint. Our first port of call was the Britannia Restaurant, as we were lucky enough to be treated to a 3-course meal to sample just what the dining onboard was all about.

We were greeted by warm, friendly members of the restaurant’s staff, who made the whole dining experience simple and a pleasure. Nothing was too much trouble and they were always on hand to top up everybody’s wine glass, which was a massive plus point!

After each choosing our starters, mains and desserts, we tucked into course after course, and it was simply superb with the beef sirloin particularly a highlight. Once we were fed and watered it was time to explore just what Queen Elizabeth had to offer, as we were navigated around the ship by our hosts.

One aspect about Cunard that was stressed was just how family friendly their ships are, and Queen Elizabeth has different zones for different age children, ‘The Play Zone’, ‘The Kid Zone’ and ‘The Teen Zone’. So if you were considering taking children on board its good to know that there are things for them to do, and we sure each age group would love the facilities, especially the Teen Zone, which is fitted with computer games and air hockey, which is sure to keep your teens entertained for hours.

Another highlight was visiting the Queens Grill and Princess Grill restaurants, which are exclusively for those passengers in Queens and Princess Grill cabins. Whilst the main restaurant is excellent, if you can stretch to one of these cabins, the more exclusive dining experience that comes with it is definitely worth it. These venues are more intimate and we were told that the food is somehow even more exquisite than that we had already tasted, which is no mean feat!

Queen Elizabeth also has all the other features you would expect from your cruise ship, pools, a beautiful spa if you fancied getting some treatments done with any onboard credit you may have and plenty of cozy spots to relax!

One of these spots is ‘The Garden Lounge’ described by Cunard as ‘A light and sociable room inspired by the glass houses of London’s famed Kew Gardens. The Garden Lounge provides the perfect setting for White Gloved Afternoon Tea service or an evening dancing under the stars.’ Whilst we looked around guests were relaxing and watching some Wimbledon tennis on the TV’s.

Once are tour was over we disembarked after what had been a fantastic day onboard, we had been given a little sample of what Cunard and Queen Elizabeth had to offer, and this left each of our group wanting to experience more. Check out the gallery of our day below!
