From the beginning…

Since 1990, Rocky Mountaineer, the world’s largest privately owned luxury tourist train, has welcomed nearly 2 million guests to inhale the mountain air and let nature take their breath away. The unparalleled experience onboard the all-dome fleet offers rich, historic storytelling, world-class cuisine, and a first-hand look at the vast and untouched wild beauty of the Pacific Northwest, while guests share memorable moments and make lasting friendships. With over 65 vacation packages, guests can chose from four unique rail routes, including the newly upgraded three-day rail package, Rainforest to Gold Rush, and travel through iconic destinations such as Seattle, WA, Vancouver, BC, and the majestic Canadian Rockies in Alberta. This luxurious train travels by daylight with overnight stays in destinations such as Kamloops, Whistler, and Quesnel, BC, so as not to miss a single beat of the breathtaking scenery along the way. Rocky Mountaineer Hosts provide engaging storytelling of the passing regions and never fail to point out the glacier-capped mountains, tumbling waterfalls, and fleeting wildlife. The culinary adventure onboard reflects the regions through which the train travels, highlighting local ingredients, such as berries from Aldergrove, BC and Pacific salmon. Rocky Mountaineer Executive Chefs take inspiration from the natural drama unfolding out the train windows when designing all menus.

“From cosmopolitan city centres to the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Rocky Mountaineer’s rail routes offer you the most jaw-dropping sights Western Canada has to offer.”

Coastal Passage

Rocky Mountaineer’s cross-border route connects the cosmopolitan cities of Seattle, WA, USA with Vancouver, BC, Canada and the breathtaking Canadian Rockies. Hang on, this route serves up la crème de la crème of Western Canada with a little bit of Americana on top. Guests will experience an all-daylight journey onboard Rocky Mountaineer travelling along the Pacific Ocean’s sparkling coastline through to the Canadian Rockies.

Rainforest to Gold Rush

Enjoy some of the most breathtaking and varied rail scenery found anywhere in the world on this route. Travel past stunning lakes, through the coastal rainforest and the desert-like conditions of the Fraser Canyon into the vast ranchlands of the Cariboo Plateau. Visit the Gold Pan City of Quesnel, journey through the Rocky Mountain Trench, be awestruck by spectacular Mount Robson, and arrive in the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies.

Journey through the Clouds

Travel through scenic valleys, the Coast Mountains range and the Fraser Canyon with its spectacular white water rapids and dramatic landscape. You will follow the route of the Fraser River, home of British Columbia’s largest salmon run, pass by the Albreda Glacier and magnificent Pyramid Falls, and hopefully see wildlife on the way. The highlight of this route is majestic Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.

First Passage to the West

Travel through the legendary Spiral Tunnels and pass by Craigellachie, the spot where the last spike on the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven. This is the only passenger rail service on this historic route, celebrated for connecting Canada from East to West. Traverse the Continental Divide and be inspired by spectacular mountains and dramatic canyons. If you’re a history buff, this route is for you.
