Independence Of The Seas To Debut Virtual Reality Ride
Royal Caribbean has revealed Independence of the Seas will be the first of their ships to feature virtual reality bungee-trampolines, Sky Pad.
Michael Bayley, the President and Chief Executive of Royal Caribbean explained that the ship, which will return to the UK in May after a massive refurbishment, will combine trampolines and virtual reality.
The experience was described as “Guests will strap in and don their virtual reality headset to transport them to another time and planet to bounce over moon craters or compete in intergalactic games. The out-of-this-world experience is for guests of all ages, and also can be enjoyed without virtual reality headsets, for those who prefer to look out over the ocean as they leap toward the sky.”
Independence of the Seas will see the addition of Skypad in April 2018 as part of its refurbishment, and is also part of Royal Caribbean’s Royal Amplified fleet-wide modernization initiative. This amazing new feature will also feature on Mariner of the Seas as part of its $90 million refurbishment.
Independence will return to the UK with a wide range of new features including a new fish and chips shop, Splashaway Bay, an escape room and Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade.
