Symphony Of The Seas Completes Trials

Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas, the worlds largest cruise ship, has successfully completed its very first Sea Trials.

The trials took place between February 15th and 18th, and the vessel is now scheduled to be delivered March 23rd. The first sea trials had previously been cancelled due to bad weather.

The trials consisted of over 80 hours of sailing, and once the ship left the STX France shipyard she covered 1,000 nautical miles off Belle-Ile island in the Atlantic Ocean.

Sea trials are a procedure that all new ships must undertake, in order to test and make sure that the ship’s engines and machinery are working as expected, and that the ship is seaworthy, over 80 tests were undertaken during Symphony’s first sea trial.

The ship’s second set of trials will begin on March 3rd and last for 24 hours with ship returning on Sunday March 4th. These trials will be to test the propulsion system on the vessel.

Symphony will become the 25th ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet, with her pre-inaugural sailing commencing on March 31st.
