Latifah, a Grammy-award winner, actress and music label president will add a new title to her extensive list when she christens Carnival Horizon officially in May this year. The officially naming ceremony for the ship will take place in New York City on May 23rd, and Latifah will preside over it.
Christine Duffy, Carnival Cruise Line President, said: “With her fun-loving spirit and positive, can-do attitude, Queen Latifah embodies our brand and knows how to ‘Choose Fun’ in everything she does.”
Duffy added: “Knowing that she is a long-time supporter of St. Jude and has performed and won ‘Lip Synch Battle’ made her the ideal candidate to serve as godmother to our newest ship.” Her ‘fun-loving’ nature will be proven straight away as she will take part in a special Carnival Horizon version of Lyp Sync Battle onboard!
St. Jude is also a cause which is close to Carnival’s hearts, they hold a fundraiser on each cruise sailing. Artwork designed by more than 30 St Jude patients will also be revealed at the naming ceremony, and all of which will appear on the Carnival Horizon’s ‘Dreamscape’ which is a three-deck LED sculpture, which will feature as the centerpiece in the ship’s atrium.
