Viking Ocean Cruises have announced that their sixth cruise ship, which is set to launch in February of 2019 will be named Viking Jupiter.
The cruise line’s chairman and founder, Torstein Hagen announced the ship’s name at Port Los Angeles where Viking Sun had docked, marking the cruise line’s first visit to the city. Viking Sun is currently sailing on a sold-out 141-day World Cruise from Miami to London and this was Viking’s first West Coast of America port of call in the company’s history.
Hagen greeted guests onboard Viking Sun, and during an onboard press conference unveiled the line’s newest ship name. Viking Jupiter will launch in February 2019 and will be able to carry 930 passengers onboard. She is set to sail Viking’s most popular itineraries in Northern Europe as well as the Mediterranean.
Viking Jupiter will be identical to the other ships in Viking’s ocean fleet and will take its name from Roman Mythology, Jupiter being the king of the gods. Just like other Viking ocean ships Jupiter will offer a wide variety of staterooms from Veranda Staterooms to the abundance of extra perks and amenities in the spacious Explorer Suites.
