Thomson Cruises team up with Larry Lamb!
We challenged much-loved British TV star, Larry Lamb, to meet an array of interesting locals while sailing across the Med on TUI Discovery 2. Here’s what happened…
A recent world-first study revealed that Brits are happier when meeting people from different cultures. In fact, holidaymakers who bonded with up to five new people from different countries experienced a happiness boost of 10%.
We decided to put this to the test with the help of I’m a Celebrity favourite, Larry Lamb. We challenged him to take a trip on TUI Discovery 2 around the Mediterranean and meet an eclectic mix of locals. As well as enjoying the amenities onboard TUI Discovery 2, he stopped off in Barcelona, Palma and Ibiza and, of course, we followed him every step of the way and captured it all on camera.
Barcelona
Larry’s first port of call was Barcelona. And, as well as discovering the city’s authentic arts and culture, he met Junaito, the owner of the most famous tapas bar in the Boqueria, Bar Pinotxo, which he has worked at for over 70 years. Larry then headed to Palau Dalmases where he met Christine Blanco Eslava, a flamenco dancer who has been performing for 12 years.
Palma
Palma is a world-renowned destination for cycling – even Bradley Wiggins is known to train here. So, Larry was keen to get stuck into all the outdoor pursuits, and put the famous cycling trails to the test. He also met Thelonious, a Mallorcan born cycling and hiking expert, for a guided tour through the city.
Ibiza
The final destination was Ibiza. And, inspired by his upbringing in a fish and chip shop, Larry went in search of the freshest fish he could find on the island. He met local fisherman Miguel, and joined him for a trip in his fishing boat, to learn about the local fishing scene and sample the fresh catch.
