Silversea Cruises has reached an agreement and signed a contract with Fincantieri worth roughly 310 million euros for the construction of a new ultra-luxury cruise ship.
The new ship is set to join the Silversea fleet in 2020 and is at present named ‘Silver Moon’. Silver Moon will be the sister ship to ‘Silver Muse’ which was delivered in April 2017 to Silversea at the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa.
With a capacity of 596 passengers and at 40,700 gross tons, Silver Moon will maintain the small-ship intimacy and spacious accomodation which is the hallmark of the Silversea experience. In fact Silver Moon will be almost identical to sister ship Silver Muse, with the colour scheme and the layout of the ship remaining the same.
One interesting feature of the new ship is the ‘Green Star 3 Design’. This means the ship will be designed to prevent pollution both in the water and air. Silver Moon will also be engineered to keep the noise levels low, meaning a greater level of comfort for passengers onboard.
Silver Moon will bring Silversea’s fleet up to 10 vessels and the Chairman of Silversea, Manfredi Lefebrve d’Ovidio commented:
