Princess Cruises has completed an extensive two-week refit of its 2,670-guest Sapphire Princess cruise ship, which will sail out of Southampton this year and in 2019.
The refurbishment was carried out in Singapore, with the vessel now including enhanced onboard spaces and product innovations.
Sapphire Princess has recently departed Singapore for the UK and will sail roundtrip out of Southampton from May to October in 2018 followed by a slightly longer season from April to October in 2019. A variety of voyages are on offer, largely to the Mediterranean and northern Europe, as well as a 24-day Canada & New England voyage in 2019.
Included in the refit is the introduction of a new luxury bed, which will be added to every stateroom by June 2018. The bed was created exclusively for Princess Cruises and includes fine linens, enhanced mattress support and a king-size deluxe pillow available with feathers or anti-allergy microfibre.
Princess collaborated on the bed with Dr. Michael Breus, a board-certified sleep expert and WebMD consultant. The bed has received the highest ranking for ‘best cruise ship beds’ by the Cruise Critic website.
Other onboard enhancements include:
· Upgrades to the spa and treatment rooms
· Updated gym equipment
· A new boutique from Effy fine jewellers
· Retail enhancements
· A large-scale LED screen, measuring 15m wide and 4.5m, for use in the theatre
· Princess Cruises’ signature logo on the ship’s bow

Princess Cruises is offering a 14-night Mediterranean Interlude cruise, roundtrip from Southampton, on Sapphire Princess from £1,149 per person. Departing Saturday September 22, 2018, ports of call include Vigo (Spain), Livorno (Italy) for Florence or Pisa, La Seyne (France) for Toulon or Provence, Barcelona, Ceuta (Spanish Morocco) and Lisbon.
