Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, Carnival Horizon has successfully completed its final sea trials in the Adriatic Sea as anticipation builds for her inaugural cruise in April 2018.
Horizon is in the final stages of construction at present, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, and the vessel had a full contingent of officers, technicians and engineers onboard. They were tasked with thoroughly testing the sophisticated technical, mechanical and navigation systems.
Carnival Horizon, a sister vessel to Carnival Vista will have lots of new features onboard, such as the first Dr. Seuss WaterWorks water park, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse Brewery and a new teppanyaki dining venue.
Horizon will also offer popular Vista-class features such as the IMAX Theatre, the groundbreaking SkyRide and the tropics-inspired Havana area, with its own Cuban-themed bar and pool. Carnival Horizon is set to debut on April 2nd 2018 with a 13 day Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona, which will be the first of four round-trip departures from the port.
