MEET BEA TOLLMAN

Founder of our sister company, the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, Bea Tollman sought to bring the feeling of staying in a luxury boutique hotel to the rivers. Bea is an integral part to the design vision for each new Uniworld ship that sets sail, a process that involves herself and her daughter Toni. As a wife, mother and now grandmother, Bea has created a home away from home for each guest traveling with Uniworld.

MEALS ONBOARD

Our commitment to culinary excellence is evident every time you enjoy a homemade croissant delivered to your room by your butler, or when you pair your freshly caught seafood dinner with a wine that was bottles just kilometres down the road.
When dining onboard, you’ll be treated to world-class cuisine made from fresh ingredients, locally sourced from the destinations you visit. Our farm-to-table approach takes our chefs to regional farms, local markets and artisanal producers to ensure that every meal is an adventure in and of itself. We treat cooking as an art form – a very delicious art form.
Our focus on serving memorable meals comes directly from world-renowned Mrs. Beatrice Tollman- founder of our sister Red Carnation Hotel Collection, author of the highly acclaimed cookbook A Life in Food and the inspiration behind the culinary philosophy onboard. Mrs Tollman’s personal recipes are guest favourites on our dining menus.

DRESS CODE

It’s best to pack for a range of weather conditions, depending on the season and regions visited. Wearing layers will allow you to easily adjust to temperature changes. Limiting your wardrobe to a simple mix-and-match colour scheme will keep your bags to a minimum.
We recommend wearing comfortable, smart-casual clothing both onshore and onboard. We also suggest sturdy walking shoes, as you will do a significant amount of walking on shore excursions, often over cobblestones or uneven terrain. A sun hat, rain gear, and a coat or wrap for chilly evenings are useful items to have. For dining ashore, concerts, special events onboard, etc., men may want to bring a sports jacket and women a cocktail dress or pantsuit. Neckties are optional. Please note that shorts are not allowed at dinner aboard the ship.

SPECIAL DIETS

Kindly inform us in advance if you have specific dietary requests (e.g., low-fat, low-calorie, gluten-free, sugar-free, vegetarian, etc.). We have a “Traveling Lite” menu for guests seeking more health-conscious options, as well as light lunches, vegetarian options, and generous buffets that offer something for everyone. We will do our very best to accommodate your needs given the resources available to us.

ONBOARD INTERNET

Select ships offer complimentary Wi-Fi access. Service may be briefly interrupted in remote areas, while sailing, or when moving through locks, and the speed will likely be slower than what you are used to back home.

PASSENGER INFORMATION FORM

Due to immigration and security measures worldwide, passenger information must be fully completed and received by Uniworld by the time of final payment. Final documentation will not be processed without receipt of the Passenger Information Form. One completed form is required per guest.

SECURITY MEASURES ON CRUISE SHIP

We keep all outside doors and access to the interior of the ship locked whenever docked. Only guest can access the ship using a key card.
All guests and luggage are verified against the manifest at check-in.
All deliveries are thoroughly inspected before being brought onboard.
Cameras are present at the entrance of the ship and in public areas, and are monitored by our reception staff.
Portable boarding pass scanners are available at the gangway.
Guests have 24/7 access to the front desk.
Trained security staffs are posted at the gangway 24 hours a day.

GUIDELINES FOR GUESTS WITH MOBILITY CONCERNS

While we welcome guests with disabilities, there are some unique challenges when it comes to river cruising that prevent us from providing the level of accessibility found on many ocean cruises. Every guest’s needs are unique, and we recommend contacting us directly so we can discuss your particular needs and what we can do to accommodate them. In general, please note that some river cruise gangways are not wheelchair accessible, while others may be very steep. Embarkation and disembarkation often involves travelling through one or more ships docked between our vessel and the pier, and because of this we cannot control the size or position of gangways, nor can we control the conditions onboard other ships, such as steps or obstacles that must be traversed. Ideally, all guests should be able to walk unassisted during embarkation and disembarkation. Travel-sized collapsible walkers may be brought onboard for storage and can be used onboard. Canes may also be used onboard. Wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, and scooters are not allowed to be used onboard in most cases. Passageways on river cruise ships can be narrow and these devices may block hallways and exits. The staterooms on river ships are generally small in size and most are not large enough to accommodate a wheelchair, or have wheelchair-accessible bathrooms. A guest may bring a travel-sized collapsible wheelchair or a travel-sized collapsible scooter* onboard for storage purposes only. These devices must be stored in the guest’s cabin. Uniworld shore excursions come in various levels of difficulty and include a significant amount of walking. Stairways, cobblestones, unpaved areas, and occasional steep inclines are common in the historic areas we visit, and many are not wheelchair accessible. Guests may use canes or walking sticks on excursions, however wheelchair use must be approved by the Cruise Manager onboard, and is granted case-by-case, taking into consideration guest safety. Furthermore, the vendors we contract with for transportation and other onshore service may not be able to accommodate wheelchairs. Scooters are prohibited on shore excursions due to safety considerations. The Cruise Manager will be able to advise guests which excursions would be appropriate for their level of mobility. Guests may also book private tours or transportation in most locations through our Concierge at an additional cost.
*Scooters and wheelchairs must be pre-approved by Uniworld’s Guest Relations Department prior to embarkation. Devices must meet size and weight guidelines, and guests must confirm in writing that they have read, and agree to the onboard and onshore conditions described above.
