When taking a cruise holiday, there are many activities available offering the best on-board experience. Most on-board experiences are included in the price of your cruise. However, if you want to enjoy a little bit more luxury on your holiday, there are many opportunities to do so – although these will come at an extra cost. These will be charged to your on-board account – you can read more about on-board accounts here. Take a look below to find out some of the things that are included in extra charges onboard.

Spa and Salon – Most cruise lines have a spa  offering luxury treatments to all passengers. These could include massages, facials and aromatherapy – with most also offering salon treatments such as hairdressing, manicures and pedicures. If you want ultimate luxury on-board, spa packages are available on certain cruises however they do come at a large cost.

Drinks and Alcohol – Usually, bar bills won’t be included in your cruise cost – so all the drinks you order on-board come at an extra cost. Most cruise lines do offer drinks packages which are definitely worth while if you’re planning on drinking a lot – these are also recommended for families so both children and adults can order as many drinks as they want without worrying about spending too much.

Photographer – Mainly present at embarkation and on formal nights, most cruise ships have an on-board photographer documenting the fabulous time you’re having on your cruise. Although it’s fun to feel like an A-Lister being snapped by the paps, these photographs do come at an extra cost. They’re a really nice memento to keep showcasing your highlights after your cruise.

Excursions – Excursions are one of the best ways to experience the destinations you visit whilst on your cruise. There are a huge variety of excursions to choose from, but they do come at an extra cost.

Speciality Dining – Many cruise lines have speciality restaurants which are usually ran by famous chefs. Giving a special and alternative dining experience compared to your usual buffet or restaurant dining. If you have something to celebrate, or want a little bit of extra luxury on your cruise, visiting a speciality restaurant would definitely be the way to go.

Gratuities – Because cruise staff do their best to give all passengers the VIP luxury treatment, cruise lines charge a specific gratuity fee per person per day which will be charged to your on-board account. These can also be pre-paid before you embark on your cruise.

Laundry – Although not one of the most luxurious features available, running out of clean clothes is never good when you’re at sea. Most cruise lines offer a laundry service at an additional cost so you can make it to dinner on time in your freshly cleaned clothes.
