We know it can be difficult to leave stuff at home when going on holiday. So we have put together an anti-packing checklist to settle those worrying minds and let you know exactly what you won’t need when packing for your cruise holiday. Take a look at our Ultimate Guide to Cruise Packing to find out what you do need to take.

Generic painkillers

Most ships have medical centres or shops where generic painkillers such as paracetamol and ibuprofen are available.

Alcohol

Onboard most cruise ships, it is illegal to take alcohol onboard. However a few cruise lines do allow passengers to bring on 1 or 2 bottles of wine and charge a corkage fee. Find out more about what alcohol you can and cannot take onboard your cruise here.

Hairdryers

Most cruise lines do supply hairdryers in every stateroom or cabin, so there’s no need to carry that extra weight! Make sure you double check with us or the cruise line if they do offer this before you travel.

Sports Equipment

Although there tend to be many activities and sports available onboard, there’s no need to bring your racket! Cruise lines will supply equipment for the activities they offer.

Soap

Soap and other shower products are likely supplied by the cruise line, however if you have a certain type you need to use we suggest you bring your own.

Towels

Most cruise lines supply towels to each passenger, which can be used around the pool, in the shower and taken on shore – so there’s no need to take up space with a beach towel for everyone.

Bathrobes

Bathrobes, house coats, dressing gowns – whatever you want to call them – are generally supplied in each cabin or stateroom free to use for the duration of your cruise. However if you want to take these home as a souvenir, there tends to be a charge.

Washing Powder

All ships offer launderette services with plenty of washing powder for you to do your washing if you need to.

Food

Packing food can be a tricky one, there are different rules on each cruise line on what you can and can’t take. Generally, dry food is okay to pack – take a look here to find out the full guidelines on taking food onboard.
