If you’re a first time cruiser, getting aboard a cruise ship can be quite daunting – they can be pretty big. We are here to put your mind at ease, there is no reason to think that you won’t enjoy your cruise, that you’ll be bored and have nothing to do – because cruises are such an amazing experience and there is so many things to do on-board and on-shore. Here is a quick guide to a day in the life of a cruiser.

Turnaround Day

You will experience two turnaround days on your cruise holiday – one at the beginning and one at the end. Turnaround day is when cruisers disembark the ship to end their holiday, and cruisers waiting to embark the ship begin theirs.

Because there is a short amount of time (usually around 6 hours) for the ships crew to prepare the ship for new passengers once all of the previous passengers have disembarked, it really is all hands on deck. On average there are around 1500 rooms to clean, and two miles of corridor to vacuum. The ships crew work religiously in these 6 hours to prepare new cruisers for embarkation.

Port Day

When you pull into port you really have a huge choice of what to do with your day. You can go exploring on-shore and enjoy some sights, or take a shore excursion which you have booked prior to cruising. Although many passengers choose to leave the ship, if you don’t fancy seeing the particular port you’re docked in you can always stay on the ship. There are plenty of things to do on-board which will fill your day with relaxation and fun.

Sea Day

Whilst you’re sailing across the seas, there are a huge variety of activities to take part in on-board.

Working on your tan is a crowd favourite, relaxing by the pool with a cocktail and a good book is always a good way to spend a day at-sea. However if you want to relax even more, you can take a trip to the on-board spas and salons to indulge in a luxury treatments or two.

Sports, games and activities are always available on-board, so if you’re itching to get involved with something active, these activities could be for you. From tournaments to dance classes, and even surfing – there will be something on offer that you will love.

General daily activities

Each day breakfast, lunch and dinner is available for all passengers – dining times can be found in the daily newsletters that are delivered to your cabin (if you have chosen a specific dinner sitting remember to get there on time!). There are also a variety of events, performances and formal nights on-board when cruising and all of this information can be found in your daily cruise newsletter.
