P&O Cruises extends pause to mid-November and cancels two long cruises following FCO guidance

In an acknowledgement of Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) guidance P&O Cruises has extended its pause in operations until November 12, 2020 and also cancelled two long itineraries due to depart in January 2021 (Aurora’s Caribbean & South America Adventure, R101 and Arcadia’s World Cruise, J101).  Please see attached for Press Release with further details.

Update 02/06/2020

P&O Cruises is extending its pause in operations up to and including 15 October 2020 as a result of the continued impact of COVID-19.

As a business our operational focus is not  “when can we resume sailing?” but is instead “how can we develop a comprehensive restart protocol that will keep everyone on board, crew and guests, safe and well and still give our guests an amazing holiday?”

We are working with government and industry bodies at the highest possible level, such as Public Health England and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to review every aspect of a holiday with us and establish a framework of policies and procedures. Our aspiration is to be adopting best practice in managing COVID-19 within the travel industry.

Unfortunately, as the world continues to adapt to this global crisis, we have made the decision, difficult as it is, to extend our pause in operations for all sailings up to and including 15 October 2020. We are so sorry for the disappointment this will cause to so many of our guests.

Update 23/04/20

With the current lockdown in place and Government guidelines around the world advising against travel as a result of the continued impact of COVID-19, it is necessary to extend the pause in our operations until the end of July. That is, all sailing’s up to and including July 31, 2020.  This will impact guests who had booked on Ionafest on July 4.  Once we have more clarity on Iona’s delivery date then we hope to reschedule Ionafest at a later date.

All guests with a holiday booked on a retail fare up to and including 31 July this year will automatically receive a 125% Future Cruise Credit (FCC). FCCs may be used on new bookings for any holiday up to the end of March 2022, with bookings to be made before the end of December 2021.

Update 30/03/2020

In light of the recent government announcements it is clear that the original date of 11 April to resume sailings, is not feasible. Regrettably, therefore, we are now extending this pause to all sailings up to and including 15 May 2020.

As we work through the evolving guidelines and restrictions in ports of call around the world, future itineraries may be subject to change and we are looking at how we phase our ships back into service.

An Important update to our flexible booking policy.

In light of the evolving COVID-19 situation, our voluntary pause in operations, and in line with the latest advice from ABTA, we have amended our temporary flexible booking policy. This new policy is applicable to guests due to travel with us up to and including 31 August 2020.

Sailing as planned:

If you would like to keep your existing booking, your ship and crew will be ready and waiting to welcome you. We are pleased to be able to offer you on board spending money to enhance your holiday.

Transferring your booking.

If  you have  a booking due to sail before 31 August 2020, you can transfer your booking up to 48 hours before departure. If you choose to transfer, we will apply an Future Cruise Credit worth 110% of your  original booking value.

Sailings After 31/08/20

If you would like to transfer your booking to a later date, our new temporary flexible transfer policy still applies. You have the option of transferring your booking to an alternative date should you wish regardless of value and sailing date, also you can transfer before the balance due date to any other voyage with no fees.

Cancelling a booking.

A New Cancellation policy is in place as of 19/03/20:

This new policy supersedes any information which has been communicated to you in the last few days. If you have already submitted a transfer or cancellation request based on the previous policy before today, we will honour this and we will be in touch with confirmation in due course.

If you have booked on a P&O Cruises holiday that departs before 1 September 2020, you still may cancel up to 48 hours prior to departure. The new terms apply to all guests, including those aged 70 or over and people with underlying health conditions.

P&O Cruises voluntarily suspends all sailings until 11 April

As a result of the continued impact of COVID-19, and following the recommendation by the Cruise Lines International Association for cruise lines to voluntarily and temporarily suspend operations from U.S. ports for 30 days, P&O Cruises is suspending any new cruises until April 11, 2020.

We shall be bringing our ships and all guests who are currently sailing back to Southampton and will constantly monitor the situation over the coming weeks. As ever, our priority remains the health and wellbeing of our guests and crew. We wholeheartedly wish you well in the coming months and hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you on board with us again as soon as the situation has improved.

If you have a P&O Cruises holiday booked that was due to depart prior to 11 April 2020, we’re very sorry to have to cancel your plans. We are pleased to offer you a 125% Future Cruise Credit to be used for a future cruise sailing any time before the end of March 2022 – simply book by 31 December 2021.

If, for any reason, the enhanced 125% Future Cruise Credit offer does not meet your needs, please let us know via this web form. We will not be able to facilitate any such queries via our contact centre at this time.

For all forthcoming holidays we will continue to work closely with the World Health Organization (WHO), US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Public Health England so that you can still enjoy the holiday you deserve. For those of you looking forward to the launch of our new flagship Iona, in light of recent Norwegian restrictions, we are currently reviewing itineraries and will let you know as soon as we can should any changes be necessary.

Given the changing advice, restrictions and evolving situation, as you can imagine, our customer contact centre has been overwhelmed and need a little time to respond to everyone. Sailings before 31st August 2020

– Guests that retain holiday bookings made before 11 March 2020 will receive an additional on-board spending money which you can find details of below.

– If your guests do not want to travel they may now transfer up to 48 hours prior to departure with no restrictions.

– Guests who are not yet sure what to transfer to can cancel their bookings and will receive a Future Cruise Credit equivalent to the cancellation fees and refunds will be given on any remaining monies paid. The Future Cruise Credit must be used by 31 December 2021 and can be redeemed against any
P&O Cruises holiday until the end of March 2022.

Sailings after 1st September 2020

– Guests can take advantage of our new flexible transfer policy. They can transfer to any cruise without restrictions prior to balance due date.
