A lucky few members of our team were lucky enough to be able to experience a day onboard Princess Cruises’ Caribbean Princess last week, here is what they had to say about their day.
Having been recently refurbished we were very excited to see what the ‘new’ Caribbean Princess had to offer. After travelling over 1.2 million miles all over the world since she was christened in 2004, Princess have invested $8.2 million in a well-deserved makeover.
Dining, which is often a very important aspect of any cruise holiday is well covered onboard Princess Cruises. We were first of all treated to a look around two of the specialty dining options onboard, Planks BBQ and Steamers Seafood. If classic American-style BBQ is up your street then Planks is a must-visit during your cruise. You have the choice of ‘planks’ which are fully loaded with four meats, chili, coleslaw and seasoned fries, for a nominal fee. Planks BBQ also serves a buffet-style lunch and no additional charge.
Steamers is the place to go if you are a seafood lover, choose from Black & Blue Mussels, or Classic Clams or why not try the Broiled Platter complete with scallops, shrimp and crab-stuffed flounder? Again, dining here in the evening will incur a small supplement but lunch and breakfast here comes at no extra cost, and from what we witnessed onboard both are definitely worth a trip during your cruise holiday!

We also had a look round the World Fresh Marketplace, which is filled with well-balanced options, pancakes, cereals for breakfast and handcrafted sandwiches or regionally inspired dishes and soups for lunch. If that isn’t enough, Caribbean Princess has many other dining options available such as the Salty Dog Grill, Coffee & Cones and Slice Pizzeria, which we were lucky enough to sample onboard. Made fresh, right in front of us, if you find a better Pizza at sea, we’d love to know as it was very tasty, and left us wanting a lot more than just a couple of slices!

Something that Princess Cruises are very proud of, and quite rightly, is Movies Under The Stars. Sitting under the night sky underneath a warm blanket, popcorn in hand and watching an amazing movie sounds a perfect way to spend an evening at sea. Onboard Caribbean Princess that has been made even better with new screens being introduced onboard meaning truer, richer colours along with 160-degree Extreme Wide Angle Viewing, meaning every seat, is a great one!
You’ll also notice evidence of the new refurbishment each time you take a step, as you’ll be walking on 63,000 feet of brand new carpet! As well as this you’ll feel the comfort of 2,000 reupholstered chairs, barstools, sofas and sofa beds! You’ll especially feel the comfort of the new Princess Luxury Bed, of which are now in each and every cabin on board!
After finishing a lovely three-course meal, and a glass of wine (or two) our day on Caribbean Princess was almost over. Every aspect of Princess Cruises is designed to make you ‘Come Back New’, after enjoying an amazing getaway onboard any of their fantastic ships.
