African Adventure with CMV

We are delighted to announce the launch of a new 78-night Grand Africa & Indian Ocean Voyage. 

Marco Polo escapes the winter and heads south in search of African adventures on a voyage to Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania and Kenya, plus calls in the Seychelles, Mauritius, Reunion, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Goa, India, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, the Holy Land and the Mediterranean. Sailing from Bristol Avonmouth on 6 January 2020, spanning three continents, 21,296 nautical miles, visiting 31 ports of call with two Equator crossings and a transit of the Suez Canal.

View the vast brilliant orange lunar landscape of the Skeleton coast of Namibia, the chance to climb Table Mountain, the opportunity to spot whales and great white sharks off the coast of South Africa, the Spice island of Zanzibar for chilli, nutmeg, cinnamon and black pepper. An overnight safari in Kenya allows guests to get up close and personal with the spirit of Africa and hopefully the big five.

The African highlights of Marco Polo’s Grand Africa & Indian Ocean escape offer adventure at every port of call, which include Walvis Bay and Lüderitz in Namibia, Cape Town, Mossel Bay, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Richard’s Bay in South Africa, the Tanzanian island of Zanzibar and a stay in Mombasa, Kenya allowing an overnight Safari at Tsavo East National Park.

Marco Polo will sail across the Indian Ocean calling at the tropical island paradises of Mauritius, the Seychelles, the Maldives and Sri Lanka. In contrast, India will ignite passenger’s senses with its ancient traditions, artistic heritage and astonishing architecture. Not too long after Valentine’s Day, a call at Cochin allows an optional excursion to the Taj Mahal for the celebration of romance.

Following this a call in Goa allows passengers the opportunity to explore the small town of Vasco de Gama, Portuguese influence can be felt throughout Goa. A call in Mumbai allows passengers to explore the ninth largest city in the world and soak up the culture of the Gateway of India.

Marco Polo will discover famous historical sites in Egypt and Jordan before transiting the Suez Canal to the Holy Land and the Mediterranean homeward bound. On her outward journey Marco Polo will call at Lisbon, Casablanca for Marrakesh, the Cape Verde Islands and Jamestown, St Helena before reaching the coast of Africa.

On her return from India, Marco Polo will call at Oman, Egypt, Jordan, the Holy Land and then sail through the Mediterranean calling at Malta, Gibraltar, La Coruna and Cobh before returning to Bristol Avonmouth on 24 March 2020.
