Highlights of this cruise:

Southampton
On a cruise from Southampton, you will visit this large port city located on the south coast of England. Situated in the pretty county of Hampshire, Southampton is a gateway to many of southern England’s historic attractions.

Enjoy the best deals on outings to top sights such as Winchester, famous for its 11th century cathedral, as well as the legendary Arthurian Round Table. The natural delights of the New Forest will be a draw for nature lovers and this large National Park is ideal for hiking and pony trekking. The stately home of Beaulieu Palace House is close by and makes for a superb day out with its large gardens, an historic Gothic home complete with ancient abbey, large motor museum of classic cars, an amusement park and ‘living history’ tours.

Zeebrugge
Pretty side canals and an exquisite 18th century city.
Officially known as the Port of Zeebrugge-Bruges, Zeebrugge is a large ferry port in Belgium, located in one of the busiest seas in the world, the North Sea.

Zeebrugge itself is an industrial port and is also home to a marina and one of the largest fish markets in Europe. The small holiday resort of Blankenburg is close by and is popular with locals, offering a wide sandy beach, cafés, a boardwalk and a few shops.

Historically, the city has many interesting sights including the Belfry of the 13th century cathedral on the Market Square. As we offer the best deals on local attractions, why not take a guided city tour with us or a boat trip along Bruges’ pretty side canals.

Belgium is famous for its chips, moules frites (mussels with fries) and waffles, as well as the much-celebrated Belgian beer. During your day off the cruise ship in Bruges, be sure to shop for a souvenir of your vacation and local handicrafts are excellent here. Pick up fine Belgian lace, ceramics, and Belgian chocolate, which is typically shaped into seashells and filled with praline.

Amsterdam
One of the world’s best hangouts, where funky design boutiques brush shoulders with traditional stepped-gable houses.
Amsterdam is one of the world’s best hangouts, an enjoyable blend of old and new, where funky design boutiques brush shoulders with traditional stepped-gable houses.

The city thrives on an eclectic, fashionable mix and despite being a highly popular destination for holidays and weekend breaks, Amsterdam still manages to retain its soul and preserve its quintessentially Dutch feel.

Hamburg
A unique architecture and beautiful canals.
Hamburg is Germany’s second-largest city after Berlin and one of the country’s key hubs for media and industry. The second-largest port in all of Europe, Hamburg is the ninth largest port city in the world. But don’t be put off by these ‘seconds’; Hamburg is at the front line of energy and dynamism.

Head for the Aldstadt (old city) with its unique architecture and attractive canals. You may like to visit Michaelis Church, the most significant Baroque church structure in Northern Germany boasting an impressive 132 metre-high tower. Children are well-catered for in this city: an essential outing is to Hagenbeck Zoo, complete with giraffes, elephants, monkeys and tigers all in an open, natural setting.

If you’re seeking true stillness in the city, head to Hamburg’s botanical gardens, the ‘Planten un Blomen’ with its parks, tropical greenhouse and the largest Japanese garden in Europe – a real treat for garden-lovers. For other great day trip ideas further afield, be sure to consult our programme of excursion packages, which offer the best deals on local sights and attractions.

Finally, a word about burgers… the hamburger apparently did not originate in this city, but the world’s favourite fast food is named after this German town!

Le Havre
A beacon to great modern architecture and a popular holiday resort thanks to its long and well-equipped beach.
Le Havre is a large port town in the Normandy region of north-west France. The name ‘Le Havre’ simply translates as ‘the harbour’, reflecting the status of this active maritime city, which boasts the oldest sailing club in France.

Le Havre was almost flattened during WWII, but today is a beacon to great modern architecture and a popular holiday resort thanks to its long and well-equipped beach. Once your luxury MSC cruise liner has docked in Le Havre you can either choose to explore this appealing and modern French city or venture with us further afield on one of our excursion packages.

Worth pointing out to art-lovers is the Andre Malraux Museum, with a world-class collection of great French paintings including works by Dufy, Monet, Renoir, Bonnard, Gaugin and Sisley; it is worth leaving the ship for this alone.

For a completely different experience, join us in France’s capital city Paris, known as the ‘city of light’. Le Havre is a great starting point for many destinations including the cathedral city of Rouen and the charming seaside resort of Honfleur.
