Highlights of this cruise:

Barcelona
Barcelona is Spain’s second-largest city and the capital of the Catalonia region.
Lying along the Mediterranean coast, Barcelona is the leading industrial and financial centre of Spain as well as its main trade and tourist port.

To the northwest, a set of hills run parallel to the coast and in the southwest, the old town lies along the port divided by attractive tree-lined boulevards known as Las Ramblas.
Barcelona is a wonderfully vibrant city and, having been a cultural and artistic centre since the Middle Ages.

Ajaccio
Corsica is a wildly beautiful and rugged island off the south-east coast of France , 390km from Marseille.

A popular spot with holiday-makers, a visit to the capital city of Ajaccio is one of the ‘must-sees’ on your Mediterranean cruise holiday. Located on the west coast of the island, Ajaccio was moved about two miles south of its original location, during the Genovese occupation of 1492.

Today, Ajaccio’s appealing mild climate year-round is a big draw for many of its northern neighbours who enjoy visiting local attractions such as the Citadel jetty and Napoleon’s birthplace. Ajaccio’s economy is driven by the production of cigars, fresh pasta and other gourmet products crafted with care by its local artisans.

Rome (Civitavecchia)
Rome is like no other city, with an extensive history built layer upon layer that includes; the Vatican, Colosseum, Pantheon, fabulous ruins, imperial temples, Etruscan tombs, early Christian churches, medieval bell towers, Renaissance palaces, & baroque basilicas.

La Spezia
Stretching from Ventimiglia to just past La Spezia, with the craggy Cinque Terre region in between, the sweep of shoreline known as the Italian Riviera is all about la dolce vita. Rich in heritage and linked by a delightful walking trail, the five cliff-side towns within the Cinque Terre National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – promise to deliver an authentic taste of Italian customs, food and wines. And the Mediterranean theme naturally continues on board ship, courtesy of MSC Cruises.

Genoa
Genoa is a city and a seaport in northern Italy, the capital of the Province of Genoa and of the region of Liguria.Famous as the birthplace of Christopher Columbus, Genoa remains a bustling seaport. The city’s Renaissance heritage is preserved in splendid palaces overlooking the harbor.

The Old Quarter of Genoa, is especially enthralling for those who like to explore. It is best to travel on foot through the narrow streets (called carruggi) which are meticulously kept, as are the expansive palazzi (mansions) of medieval merchants which line them. Around the Palazzo Reale, many shops sell Turkish carpets and the best of silk.

Other attractions in Genoa include the Palazzo Ducale now used for exhibitions and concerts, the Via Garibaldi art gallery and the original waterfront or Porto Antico. The waterfront is also full of atmosphere and there are many bars and restaurants where one can watch the world go by. The 16th century lighthouse, the Lanterna, which rises over 120 meters (325 steps!) above the sea, can be seen 50 kilometers away, and has guided mariners to the port for 100s of years.

Cannes
Amble past the haute couture boutiques down La Croisette, the famous waterfront promenade, to reach the Palais des Festivals, venue of the yearly film festival. Then move on to the historical Le Suquet quarter for quaint cobbled streets, fabulous views, small shops, cafés and the daily Marché Forville.

Superb beaches can be found both in the city as well as on the near-shore Île Saint-Honorat and Île Sainte-Marguerite, while farther along the coast you’ll find Antibes and Monaco as well as Nice, St. Tropez and Marseille. Inland from Cannes there are Aix-en-Provence, a lovely old town that makes the drive well worthwhile, the neighbouring village of Mougins and then Grasse, the world’s perfume capital. And a taste of the great outdoors can be had in the nearby Parc naturel régional du Verdon and Parco Alpi Marittime, two places of outstanding natural beauty.

Mallorca
Majorca is the largest island of Spain. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea and is part of the Balearic Islands archipelago. Like the other Balearic Islands, Ibiza, Formentera, and Minorca the island is a popular tourist destination.

Palma de Mallorca is the capital city of Majorca and a major tourist destination. It boasts a magnificent Cathedral, an interesting historic quarter, Arab baths and Bellver Castle and museum. Its beach is also the most popular on the island.
