Launched in 1993, refitted in 2008, Braemar is a small destination ship with 7 decks able to cater for around 900 guests. With large windows, polished wood, shining brass fittings and classic fabrics, she offers a charming, traditional feel. Designed with more mature cruising passengers in mind, a range of dining, entertainment and relaxation facilities are onboard.

Evenings assume an air of dignity, from the lavish affair that is the Gala Dinner to less formal evenings where menus are varied and mouth-watering. As the main restaurant on board, it is tastefully decorated in a medley of creamy-beige and mochas.

The Palms Cafe offers the perfect alternative for those times when you wish for a meal which is a little less formal, or for those guests who prefer not to stick to the set dinner times. Of course you will still be offered a fine choice of dishes, prepared to the same high standard you expect with Fred. Olsen.

Find card tables and competition in the card room. Bridge is always a popular pursuit onboard, so you’re sure to find players for a hand or two and more – whether casual or competitive is up to you.

The well stocked library is a popular area of the ship. With an array of novels, historical, geographical, autobiographical and many other books, the library onboard your cruise ship is a true haven of peace and tranquillity.

Morning Light Pub

The Morning Light Pub is decorated in a traditional style, depicting the century and a half of Fred. Olsen history. Daytime or evening you can be entertained by occasional live music or stand-up comedians.

Observatory Lounge

The large picture windows in the Observatory Lounge offer fantastic views which are enhanced with plenty of binoculars spaced around the lounge. A grand piano provides the perfect background music as you enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail on your cruise holiday.

Boutique

The Boutique features a wide range of luxury gifts for yourself and your loved ones. It offers a wide range of fragrance, cosmetics, bags, clothing & fashion accessories from designer brands such as Dior, Estee Lauder, Leighton Denny, Radley & Fiorelli, all at duty-free prices.

Port Shop

The Port Shop onboard stocks all the holiday essentials that you may have forgotten to pack from toiletries to sun hats or even a good book. You’ll also find a wide range of sweet treats and savoury snacks – perfect for whilst onboard or as gifts to take home.

Neptune Lounge

Shows, reviews and evenings of cabaret are what the Neptune Lounge has to offer. Neptune Lounge has ample room for passengers whichever dinner seating you are on, so you can find a seat to enjoy the glitz and glamour of the evening shows.

Braemer Room

The Braemar Room retains an atmosphere of refined elegance. Ideal for meeting fellow passengers, catching up on that best-seller or listening to the resident string trio. The Braemar Room is also adjacent to the Library, Card Room, Morning Light Pub and Boutique, so is an integral area of the cruise ship.

Marquee Pool Bar

The pool bar provides plenty of choice of soft drinks, cocktails, wines and beers during warmer days on your cruise holiday. Situated on Deck 7, the Marquee Bar on board Braemar is the perfect way to settle down with a drink or a light lunch, or just to enjoy some cool shade for a while, on a hot, sunny day.

Coral Club

This sophisticated lounge, seating 170 guests, is the venue for intimate evening shows, great music for dancing to resident live bands, as well as occasional late night cabarets.

It offers alternative shows to those in the Neptune Lounge, which are also given in two performances. Afternoon tea is often served in the Coral Club, which is also the location for the ever-popular on board Bingo.

Arts and Crafts room

The Arts & Crafts Room on board your cruise ship is the perfect space to explore your ideas and designs with arts and crafts lecturers. So, for the creative amongst you, there will be plenty to keep you entertained throughout your cruise holiday, and perhaps leave you with your own self-crafted souvenir to take home.

Lectures

On selected cruises a range of Vistas speakers who can’t wait to share their passion with you, and make your cruise really memorable. From Lars Tharp the admired historian, lecturer and a long-running expert on the Antiques Roadshow; food and wine expert Jilly Goolden and gardener Charlie Dimmock.

Atlantis Spa and Salon

Atlantis Spa and Salon offers a range of treatments and facilities including: facials, massages, waxing and body shaping treatments. The spa is open from 8am - 8pm daily.

Fitness Centre

A fully equipped fitness centre with sea views, fitness instructors and a range of equipment includes: treadmills, rowing machines, exercise bikes, free weights. Take a yoga, aerobics, stretch and tone or pilates class while you cruise. Or make the most of the beautiful views and join the ‘walk a mile’, with a revitalising stroll, or more energetic walk round your cruise ship deck in the mornings.

Golfing

For those keen golfers, take in sweeping sea views as you hone your perfect swing. Take some time to yourself in the practice golf nets.

Swimming pools

All swimming pools onboard are heated. For those wishing to be more active, why not challenge the tides using the Swimex machines.

Guests can find two whirlpools, situated on the Marquee deck.

Promenade

Feel a gentle morning sea breeze, take an afternoon meander, or a stroll by moonlight. Take a walk on the decks of the cruise ship and watch the ocean pass by. You can play shuffle board or deck quoits on the promenade, but don’t forget to look up- there could be beautiful scenery coming up on your horizon.

Special Dietary Requirements

Individual needs are as catered for as possible. So, vegetarian, low fat, dairy-free, lactose-free and gluten-free food are all on the menu.
Please make any special requests when you make your cruise booking, and Fred. Olsen will do their best to source exact products, or provide certain foods, such as diabetic desserts. They may not be able to source specific brands given our location or the availability at local ports.

Dress Code

When it comes to evenings onboard your cruise ship, dressing for dinner is traditional. Generally the style is smart casual, with gentlemen wearing a jacket/or shirt and tie and ladies smartly dressed. Chino type trousers or smart dark jeans are acceptable, but no trainers.
During the day the restaurants require cruise guests to adhere to an appropriate dress code, i.e. no swimwear.

E-cigarette Policy

Electronic cigarettes, not emitting a vapour may be used in cabins or on cabin balconies but are not permitted in any non-smoking public area. They can easily be mistaken for a real cigarette and result in potential confrontation and necessitate staff intervention. Electronic cigarettes emitting any vapour, even if only a water vapour, may only be smoked in designated external smoking areas.

Disabled facilities

Fred. Olsen welcomes all guests relying on wheelchairs for mobility onboard cruise ships. but they do ask that you advise them of your mobility needs at the time of booking in order to meet heir health & safety requirements.
