You’ve been living the life of a VIP onboard and now it’s time to go and explore the first amazing destination you’ve docked at – but what do you take with you? Here at Vision Cruise we have put together a small guide to what you should need when going ashore – so you don’t have to run to the shop or back to the ship if you’ve forgotten something.
Whether you’re exploring the port or heading to the beach, taking a bottle of sun cream for re-applying is always a good idea – especially when you’re travelling with kids!
If you’re planning a relaxing day on the beach, make sure you pack a towel. Most cruise lines provide you with a towel you can take so no need to worry about packing one.
Style and colour is totally up to you – however you should probably take some sunglasses to protect your eyes from the glaring holiday sun!
If you’re planning on taking a hike or just going for a walk round the port, you’re going to want to pack some comfy shoes – don’t want to be getting any blisters before your big performance on the dancefloor!
No matter what you’re doing when you leave the ship, taking bottled water is a must – we don’t want anyone getting dehydrated and missing out on some fun activities!
Camera / Camera Phone
To capture those special memories both onboard and onshore – a camera is a must!
Make sure you take this with you as it allows you to get on and off the ship!
Because you will be visiting different countries whilst sailing, you’ll need to take your passport with you – although some countries do accept other forms of ID such as a drivers licence. If you don’t have a passport be sure to check with the cruise line or with us before you book!
Cash / Credit Cards
Taking just a small amount of cash with you ashore is the best way to stay safe from pick-pockets. If you’re planning on making a big purchase, it’s much safer to take a credit or debit card with you.
Port Agent Details
In case of any emergency, the port agent is the person to call if you need to get in contact with the ship. These details will usually be available in the daily newsletter available onboard each morning.
